Adapting IoT Technologies to a Complex Shop Floor

At Teel Plastics, a custom manufacturer of extruded plastic tubing and plastic profiles, multiple lines—each with a dozen subsystems or more—are reconfigured on a daily basis. Into this environment Teel is deploying an IoT system to help facilitate the closed loop, AI-driven production of tubing in a continuous process.  Senior programmer Owen Gwynne will share how movement towards this system is being accomplished by upgrading existing equipment, measuring part quality and material usage in real-time. He’ll also discuss Teel’s incremental development process, which features defined paybacks at each step. Finally, real stories of issues and how they were overcome will be shared.
