‘Digital Intensity’ and Its Impact on Transformation

There seems little doubt that the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) will transform manufacturing operations. But what’s less fully appreciated is how the IIoT will transform how humans work, operate and interact within industrial operations. To shine a light on the interplay between the increasing digital intensity of industrial environments and the personas who inhabit them, Intel’s Dr. Irene J. Petrick and Faith McCreary will  share the findings of a six-month study of industrial workers—ranging from plant-floor operators to CEOs—that reveals critical success factors for successfully accelerating the transition from traditional manufacturing to the intelligent factory of Industry 4.0. They’ll discuss the specific pain points that motivate consideration of smart technologies, examine role-based differences likely to influence acceptance of IIoT technologies, prioritize obstacles to change for both manufacturing workers and leaders, and share leadership strategies for accelerating the transition to the intelligent factory.
